here's the site:

<sorry, no personal URLs>

what i'm trying to do is get the whole thing centered. looks close to centered in lo-res, but anything higher and it looks wonky. i'm doing this with frontpage (sadly enough) and trying to figure out how to get the whole thing to drop dead centered. i already tried valign, to no avail.

help! and thanks!

Welcome to WebmasterWorld, rondumont.

Here's one thread where we discussed vertically centering a table:
[webmasterworld.com...]

There are many others as well. You can find them by using the site search function at the top of the page. It's a great way to get familiar with the many topics already discussed - and of course we're always willing to discuss them further if the answer you need isn't already here.

rondumont,

If you're new to website building I promise you, the best investment of your time you can make is to learn basic html. Even if you go on to use expensive software later, the understanding you will have will make everything easier.

There are zillions of tutorials on the web (of varying quality) so explore them and see what you can achieve with basic markup. Keep things simple to start with.

thanks, brother.

i did learn html from htmlgoodies.com. i resorted to frontpage for the ease of writing an entire site from the ground up, and to avoid hardcoding image flips.

i do appreciate the advice, though!

wish me luck!

Hi rondumont

Dreamweaver is definitely a good investment. Their current version is 10 times as good as older ones IMHO :) and has many useful functions such as libraries which are fantastic for maintaining a general menu system throughout your site, for example.

As Longhaired Genius said, it is very important for you to understand how this is working behind the gui interface. In actual fact, although DW is a very good tool, it is still very hard to use without a reasonable understanding of html.

What I would suggest you do, is simply play with putting alignments on different tags ( <table>, <td>, <div> ) and seeing what happens!

If you want to stickymail your URL, I'll have a quick look for you.

Good luck.
