Disabling and enabling pieces of a form

I'm looking to disable portions of a form based on what a user clicks above.

Ex: User clicks one of three options at the top of a form. This selection dictates what they can pick on the rest of teh form greying out and making unclickable things that aren't associated with this option.

I would like to do this because I want the user to see what options they could use if they would've chosen a differnt one at the top so if they wanted that option they know to choose a different beginning.

This is an intranet tool I would like to create for my company, but don't know how to go about creating it. Any help would be much appreicated.

My guess is you'll need to use javascript or a java applet in order to implement that sort of feature. Both of these work on the client side and wouldn't require interaction with the server until the form was submitted.

There are plenty of tutorials out there for working with Javascript. A quick search for 'javascript' and 'tutorial' will yield you plenty of results. But if you want to shorten your research time, check out w3schools.com.

I haven't worked with Java at all so I can't speak to what might be available.
