I'm baffled. Spent lots of time today trying to figure out what I had done wrong in my code.

What I finally determined is happening is for reasons beyond my knowledge, when I upload the file, random snippets of code are added to the end of my code. When I Go to view source on the live page and look at the bottom, I see several extra closing body and html tags. Those are not in my local file. After I upload them, that junk appears. It almost seems to be virus-like type behavior.

Any thoughts?

thanks.

you mention its dreamweaver code, so i presume you're using dreamweavers ftp to upload the files?

Have you tried using a seperate ftp program/client to upload the files?

:)

I'm uploading with Dreamweaver CS/v9

I also discovered that the problem is NOT occurring during upload.
When I opened my DW files this morning, the extra code was at the bottom. I deleted it, and resaved it. When uploaded, it is there. But what I found was when I closed my DW file and reopened it, the extra code appeared. So, it's actually happening on my system.

I'm going to run Mac Disc Utility and see if it finds anything. Maybe I'll reload DW.

Any other thoughts? I'm pushing for DiscWarrior or TechToolPro, but who knows how long before I'll see that purchased.

That's supposed to read DW3 above.

Here's some excrutiating detail.

The weird thing is how this happens.

I took file 'A' from what is already up there running smoothly on the site.
I reworked the body for a new page, resaved it and called it file 'B'.
I uploaded that and it is fine.

What I did in file 'B' was essentially create a photo viewing page as a template. I want to use it in a couple of different places for different things.
So, I took file 'B' and renamed/resaved it into another folder and updated links, call it file 'C'.
it's fine.

Here's where it gets all wonky.
when I take file 'C' and change the subnavigation THEN it goes nuts. That is where the problem is, but I cannot understand why. Makes no sense.

It's doing it now on any file I use. I pulled an early test file for an early edition of the site and it happened there.

I've run the Mac Disk Utility.
I've reinstalled Adobe's Creative Suite 3
I've run Disk Warrior.
I've googled for mac/dw viruses to no avail.
I've run out of ideas.

Help me Obi-Wan Kenobi, you're my only hope.

After 3 aggravating days of chasing my tail... or someones tail.... whatever.... after 3 long days I figured out that problem. BAD SERVER. GRRRRRR

I guess the good news is that they FINALLY will have to upgrade that server which I've been telling them for the past 6 months. When will they learn to trust us little people?

The code replication only takes place when I save to that server. Anywhere else works just fine.

Thanks for all your suggestions.
