Performance issues probably. Running at 32 bit color requires some processing and a somewhat powerful graphics card. With my recent monitor purchase, I had to upgrade my 8MB card to a 64MB card. I'm now able to see 32 bit the way it was meant to be seen. Couldn't do it with the 8MB card.
When working with images, I stay at 16 bit since that is where a majority of the users are. You'd be surprised at the differences between 16 and 32 bit when it comes to image compression. Eek!
