I'm sending a HTML newsletter that contains links to transparent PNG files. Given that Outlook uses IE to render HTML emails the lack of PNG support is an issue.
I have used a javascript fix for the transparency issue in IE 6. Follow the link to see the fix [homepage.ntlworld.com...]
But this solution doesn't seem to work when Outlook uses IE to render HTML emails.
Has anyone come across this problem before and found a solution?
Thanks
Given that Outlook uses IE to render HTML emails...
Particularly given that Microsoft have apparently taken a step backwards with Outlook 2007 to use the rendering engine from Microsoft Word, rather than IE, I kinda wonder whether it is worth trying to use PNGs at all in emails?!
Even when Outlook uses IE to render pages, it is only 'partial' (unless may be the Internet security settings have been tweaked?!). Not all HTML/CSS features are supported; and I suspect this will extend to 'javascript fixes' as well!?
I'm still no closer to a solution to my problem and agree with you that when an HTML email is rendered by Outlook that not all normal IE behaviors are applied.
I'll be sure to post back here if I find a solution.
