I need a program that acts as any kind of proxy that will act normally unless I configure it to save all pages viewed from a certain domain.

I don't want these annoying offline browsers that make you use their software in order to save what you view.

So far no one has been able to point me in the right direction.

It would be much appreciated if anyone has some answers

CNet's download.com has a new addition that seems to fit - java based and it works "behind" any browser: [download.com...]

Normally we would not post something like this, but in this case I know that download.com tests the software that they offer. I searched a lot and couldn't I find anything else that seemed to be exactly what you are looking for. Apparently this is a rare bird.

Are you asking for an offline browser or a proxy?

There are so many different types of proxy server packages out there. I think you'd have to be more specific about what you want it to do. Do you want one that filters advertisements? One that makes your surfing anonymous? Something else? What sort of function would this proxy fulfill?

Hey guys thanks for the response.

I'm looking for a few things in one. Hopefully this makes it more clear.

1. Should work with any browser (I think it should allow me to proxy from localhost to a port which is controlled by the software I'm talking about).
2. Should be configurable so it will save all pages/images to disk as specified (eg for a specific domain only).

It does not need to be an off-line browser but it would be nice but that is not as important.
I don't need anonymity.

You mean something like Squid to speed up surfing, or perhaps something more specialized? How much do you need to cache? How many users will this be for? There are a lot of different types of caching you can do. Even your web browser can be set to setup its own cache.

I know about Squid but it isn't suitable as far as I know.
I don't want to speed up browsing at all.

I just need it for the functionality mentioned.
It needs to allow me to proxy and save everything I view according a certain domain(s) I specify.

If it's specified domains only are you looking for something that would act as a scraper? Or perhaps something like monitoring software?
