I always thought NS 5 was in fact NS 6, but now what about NS7?
And does anyone know what this C-CCK-MCD stuff is?

Not sure, but I think people can put pretty much whatever they like there, depending on what browser they are using. This week a user agent showed up in our logs as "mind your own f****ng business"...

Sinner_G Netscape 6 and Netscape 7 is actually Netscape 5 in a sense (mozilla 5). The reasoning for this is two reasons, marketing tactics and Netscape 5 was dropped part way into production. When Netscape 5 was started part way in they dropped the product and started what we know today as Netaccape 6/7 (Gecko, the core engine of Netscape, Mozilla, IBM Web Browser, AOL Browser, etc.). The reason why Netacpe Communications marketed the new browser as Netscape 6 was because they need to catch up to the market (competition) and realisticlly it's an entirely new product from the ground up. Same pretty much goes to why all of a sudden shortly after Netscape 6 came out we saw Netscape 7. Netscape is trying to keep up by marketing there new versions ahead of time in my opinion.
I hope that answers your question. If you have anything else to ask about Netscape/Mozilla/Gecko just ask away.

Well in facts it only confirms what I knew (or thought I knew). My problem is more how to tell from my stats who used NS6 and who NS7...

Oh well that's what you need okay well that's quite easier then you think :). Look for the the revision number, (i.e. rv: 1.2a). Netscape 6 I believe is rv: 0.9.4 and Netscape 7 should be rv: 1.0.1. This revision number reflects the version of Mozilla and I believe Mozllia 5 found in Netscape 6/7 represents the version of Gecko (don't quote me on that one though).
Anything else?

Unfortunately not that easy, the stats are provided by the ISP, so the only thing I get is the version, as showed in my first msg...

Well that's not good. Sounds like they are not giving you the entire browser header. Not much you can do then if you are not getting the entire browser header. At least as far as I know.
