Delaying the ALT TAG on MOUSEOVER

I've been reading how important the use of ALT tags are for spiders but I just hate the way they look when they pop up on a mouseover.

Is there a way I can prevent the window from popping up at all or delay the time it takes before the Alt tag window opens up on mouseover (like 30 seconds)?

I'm pretty new to this stuff so keep it simple! :)

Sounds like you may mean title tags.
You may have both on your images, and you can delete the title tag without any effect on your Alt tag.

If you add an empty TITLE attribute to your IMG tag, ie. title="", you won't get a tooltip on mouseover. Wohoo!
