Automatically correct HTML?

Mac User Claris Home Page

I've used Claris Home Page on Apple Macs since 1995 and I love it - despite its faults.

However, Apple's Safari 3 (beta) doesn't recognise the "Submit" button in my forms and I'm told by someone, who understands such things, that a "W3 checker found 78 errors" in my HTML.

So, my question is - is there a Mac application that can buzz through my web pages and correct them automatically? I have at my disposal several editors including Dreamweaver, Dreamweaver MX, Adobe GoLive CX, RapidWeaver, Taco HTML editor, SubEthaEdit. But I find these unintuitive and clunky compared with Claris Home Page.

Adobe GoLive is most like CHP so, if I have to "upgrade" I guess that would be my software of choice.

Anyway, is there anything that will correct my pages with minimal intervention from me? I don't use anything fancy like CSS or clickable maps.

I don't know of a "push-button" solution, but,

You can do your own validation checking [validator.w3.org], and

HTML Tidy [tidy.sourceforge.net] will certainly help. I see a Mac build for it there.

Thanks for taking the time to reply, Unfortunately, the page about "HTML Tidy" means nothing to me. I downloaded the OSX file but when I click on it, it opens the Unix terminal. I'm out of my depth here!

Although you might have 78 errors, it is likely that you only have half a dozen types of error.

In that case, it might only take a few minutes to manually fix each page. Get an analysis done first.
