i have some joined Linkshare and added some affiliate links to my site. My question is this:

- I received a comment saying that the logos do not show up in the user's browser. So, where my links should be - there is simply my text saying "Shop at this store" with no linking logo.

I cannot reproduce this error, as I have tested my site in IE 6 & 7 and Foxfire.

I think it might have to do with cookie settings or the like, but I cannot find out how to fix an error I cannot see.

Thoughts?

What are the dimensions of the image? This sounds like ad-blocking software at work, probably Norton Internet Security.

Try this search [google.com] for some good examples of how NIS alters page content, especially images which are of a standard ad size, or which include an affiliate link.

Try reproducing the environment that your user *might* be using: In IE, set Internet Zone Security to High and set cookies to a moderately restrictive setting (Medium?), and if you have your site in your Trusted Sites, remove it. In Firefox, make sure JavaScript is turned off.

Adblock extension in Firefox can sometimes act up on very complicated sites, you may want to try that too (although it's certainly not necessary unless your site is very complicated).

Thanks for all your help. I do believe that it has something to do with the security settings from an antivirus program, as I have tried the other browser based changes (security high - no cookies at all, etc) and was still not able to recreate it. Because I think this will become more common, I am likely to 'change' the link to have the image served from my server, and when clicked on, the image will run a 'navigation' script.

thanks
