This one is driving me nuts.
Only on my PC, and only in IE7, the first time I call a web page, any web page, IE7 is taking 10+ seconds to retrieve and then load the page.
The second and all subsequent calls to the same web page with the IE7 browser left open retrieve and load in < 2 sec.
If I close IE7, the behavior is repeated... slow load on 1st call, 2nd+ works fine.
On my PC with Firefox2, takes < 2 sec to retrieve and then load the page on the first and all subsequent calls.
On my wife's PC with IE7 on the same LAN, the first page load is < 2 sec. On an older desktop PC on the same LAN with IE6, first page load is < 2 sec.
I've checked caching and all kinds of stuff with no luck.
Anyone have any ideas? I have to use _both_ IE and Firefox all the time. Using only Firefox ain't an option.
I solved the problem by directly entering my ISPs DNS server IPs into my TCP/IP settings, versus letting my router at 192.168.1.1 handle initial name resolution duties with default DHCP DNS settings.
For whatever reason, the router is treating my PC differently than other PCs on my LAN.
Weird stuff... Onward through the fog :-)
