I'm passing this along here in the event someone hasn't seen it yet. Netscape 8 versions began experiencing lock-up and white-screen problems two days ago. I don't normally browse with NS, so didn't notice a problem until tonight. I would imagine that a lot of people are being affected who have no idea where to find help.
Apparently the browser is trying to phone home every minute or so, and no one is at home to take the call. The browser hangs on, hoping someone will answer. sigh...
The easy fix is to add this line to your hosts file.
127.0.0.1 ns8-stats.netscape.com
