IE 7 Not Playing mp3 links

I just tried adding a link to an mp3 file to a site I'm developing.

It plays fine in Firefox and Opera but with IE7 beta it returns a javascript error.(invalid character & object expected)

I tried it on a few music sites and got the same error so it's not my coding.

Is this a problem with IE7 or just my copy of it?

I'm not having any difficulty playing MP3 files (html link) with IE7 using WMP11. You didn't mention which player you're using, but if it's an older release of WMP, try updating.

Thanks, I'm able to play the mp3 links on my local copy of the site so it's probably a security setting problem.

I only use IE to test sites so I'm not worried if it doesn't work on my pc just as long as it works on my clients pc :)

Why would you have any background music playing on a website?

One of the worst things ever for a website to have, imo.

Hello tomitm, and welcome to the forums.

I agree with you about background music, but bikermanirl is asking about playing the mp3 file from a link -- lots of good reasons to do that.
