This is for the IE portion of the stats only, which is around 75% of the total. About 18% is FF, the rest is various other browsers.

On our website tracking, IE7 usage just topped over 20% yesterday (and around 20.5% today so far). IE6 is down to 79%.

The thing of note though is that the total of ALL other IE versions, from 5.5 and earlier is now under .75%.

IE7 is growing rapidly in market share for me too, but nowhere near the 20% level yet. IE5.x is now dead on my sites - it was already very low (under 1%, but the numbers now don't even hit 0.1% even for IE5.5). I don't have many corporate users though.

November 2006 aggregate totals, French-language site:

IE7: 5.1 %
IE6: 81%
IE5.5: 0%
IE5: 0%

FF2.0: 1%
FF1.5: 4.5%
FF1.0: 1.5%

Safari: 2.2%
Opera 1%

IE7 is up from 0.5% in October 2006 to 5.1% in November - that's a huge jump, and mine is a very non-technical audience.

Is the French language version of IE7 out yet?

Is the French language version of IE7 out yet?

Yes, it can out very quickly after the English-language version, and it is currently being distributed via Windows Update. Microsoft have released most if not all localized versions of IE7 now (including RTL languages).

I'm not surprised by your 20%, if you have an audience with a modicum of technical savvy you are likely to see a good takeup for the automatic upgrade. Upgrading to IE7 can put some users off, though - I have had two people contact me asking how to get the old IE back. In both cases I sent them to download Firefox, and both are satisfied and have switched away from IE7. :)

Is anyone else seeing explosive growth for IE7 in November?
