I haven't needed to add video to a website in quite some time. What is the best way to integrate it in to a web page these days?

I would like something like youtube - a player that sits in the middle of a webpage and comes up with a paused picture and controls to start playing it.

I imagine theres is proprietary - but there must be some similar packages out there?

Hi Crump,

Maybe a flash video player?

I use sfw files, easy to integrate into html, supported by most browsers (although you need to install some addons on opera and firefox). You have all controls needed, including the noloop tag.

What addons would that be? AFAIK all you need is the Flash plugin. IE/win requires something similar to the plugin.

YouTube uses the flash video player, if you have flash 8 there are quite a few skins to choose from that have all or just a few of the controls. You set whether or not the video will "autoPlay" in the parameters window before exporting the file.
(Tip: set the volume to 50% in the same window, it's a lot nicer on your users ears if they have their speakers cranked up)

It suits our needs perfectly.
