1024x768 or smaller?

I know most business screens are set to 1024x768, but are most personal computers still around 800? I want to know what's the best screen size to build my site to appeal to my clients. Suggestions or comments would be greatly appreciated.

Best choice i think always to make it 100% of the screen size irrespective of screen resolution

if you cannot go for that way try seeing your logs those can give you idea what type of visitors are coming to your website and design according to that

if its fresh website try to focus on your target visitors and then try to decide whats the best for you

Good intent, but then you run into line length problems at high resolutions. The solution to that is careful use of min- and max-widths on the content.

A considerable number of people still use 800x600, at least while viewing my site.

I also find that text at a decent size fits nicely into an 800x600 browser window, whereas wider resolutions make full-width lines of text seem harder to read.
