Does anyone know what html code to use when adding a "make us your browsers home page" link to a website?

I have managed a link using "http://www.example.com/%5C"
Although this works, when i run it though a html validation checker it errors!

Does anyone use a different system that works better.. please let me know

I am intrigued to know the details of your 'link' (no need for specific URLs), as I can't see that the above syntax could work?! Also, what browser(s) does it work on? Thanks.

As far as I know, you can only script this for IE. With FireFox having such a strong and growing market share, I'm not sure how wise that is for the usual website. At any rate, it requires a proprietary IE behavior plus some jscript. More technical information is available here: Home Page behavior at Microsoft's MSDN website [msdn.microsoft.com].
