America Online has released a new version of its Internet access software designed for Apple Computer's Mac OS X operating system.

The software integrates Netscape Communication’s Gecko browser and supports Apple's QuickTime media player. It also supports Apple's iChat messaging program and will allow users of iChat and AOL Instant Messenger to communicate with one another.

Josk, it happens....

This is good news on the diversification front. Now I'm hoping AOL offers the Gecko based engine in their Windows version. Hopefully, talk will turn into action.

My guess is that osX will be a test market, and if folks give positive feedback they'll switch the windows users.

I'm hoping that the entire osx base is currently a test market. If Apple doesn't port that thing for intel soon, I'm sure someone will "liberate" it.
