Is there a way to keep my computer connected to the internet whilst it is in standby mode? Any replys would be greatly appreciated. :)

If connected by USB I believe the answer is NO. If connected by ethernet, if your motherboard supports it, your PC can be woken remotely. This feature is typically called "Wake on LAN" and must be enabled in the BIOS. It can be used to connect security cameras to the internet so that they can be accessed remotely, etc. or provide any other information.
I have no direct experience of this technology, however, a friend uses it so it is certainly possible.

I would assume though, that with "Wake on LAN", the computer would come out of standby mode (ie. wake up) when a signal was received - so it would no longer be in standby mode?!
