No Script content

Do people still use it? Do search engines like it?

Hi everyone - I have a website that I'm working on, and when you first go to the site, you get a small intro page which asks which language you wish to view the site in. When you choose, the site then opens up in a new window.

No problems there, looks great, works great. But my question is that if people have javascript turned off, or are using dinosaur browsers, should I include a noscript tag? Or will it just end up getting me ranked lower on search engines, because it can be seen as hidden text?

Thanks for any info!

Depending on the category or type of site, your visitors with js off may run as high as 15-20% (a tech-oriented site, for instance). It's generally considered a good practice to include at least some basic navigation in noscript.

I would use a noscript tag so that people who don't use javascript can manually click. I personally surf with the internet equal to the restricted zone, then add sites I trust to trusted zone, so by default I surf without javascript.

As Richard, I can enable Javascript if I want to. If a site gives me nothing of value before enabling it then I probably will never get that far.
