Hello,
I am an amateur in web-design, and I want to ask, what might seem, a stupid question. Here it goes:
I use Macromedia Fireworks MX to create designs for my html-based pages, and once I slice the document, every slice is saved as a different image. The thing is, if I then try to add text to one of the cells created by fireworks, all the cells separate and the bg color appears in between.
I see many pages, such as about.com or amazon.com in which there is a top table cell, a side table cell, and a lot of text in between. Some site's text or other kind of info makes that page's size much more than what you can achieve with Fireworks MX.
So basically I want to make a site without frames, yet I want it to hold a lot of info, more than 1024-768 pixels. Which part of this do I create with Fireworks, and which part with notepad(or dreamweaver).
I am sorry if I haven't laid out my ideas in an understandable manner, but this is just one of those things that I can clearly think of inside my head, yet I can't exactly put into words.
If you have time and want to help me out, yet something is unclear, please E-mail me.

Sorry if this message is too long.
Thank You

Hi Evileye, welcome.

Fireworks is a graphics programme and the images that it creates can be sliced up and put into a HTML page. Fireworks can export this all for you (although a lot of people don't use it in this way) but there are two things that you need to look at with your problem:

Firstly, the use of text slices for export (slices can be exported a different graphic formats or as text, which means that FW puts a placeholder cell in for you to fill with text later).

Secondly, the use of background images, if you wish to have a flexible design either vertically or horizontally. Search for "flexible design" in the design newsgroups and you should find links to some good tutorials.
