I am about to redesign the interface for an online web application for doctors. The site has been up and doing very well for a couple of years. They have decided to make the move to .Net.

I do a lot of software interface design. When you create menus and navigation for software interfaces, you always add hot keys or keystrokes for procedures you will find yourself doing a lot.

Are there any sites out there that do use hot keys as a second form of navigation? The ability has been around for a while. Are there any real problems with doing this? It would be secondary and if the user has javascript turned off it should degrade gracefully.

Hmmm... I only know about hot keys for forms in web pages. Never seen anyone use it though...

There is some javascript at labs.google.com for the Keyboard Shortcuts section of their Beta.
