Hi,
I need to make a picture of a web site on paper. How can I copy a web page into a JPG or GIF, so I may then print it?

On Windows:

Bring the page on screen and press the Print Screen button - this captures everything on screen and places it on the clipboard.

Then you can paste into a new canvas in your favorite image editor and crop as needed. If you want to get material from "below the fold", just scroll down, take a second Print Screen, and paste into the same canvas, matching up the "seam".

On Macintosh:

Any help here?

By the way, you can also paste the screenshot from the clipboard directly into MS Word. I often get screenshots from clients and users this way, so I can see the problems they are reporting.

Never tried that, Tedster, but sounds good to me.
I use PSP and there is the facility to take the screen shot directly from there, guess there will be one in PS too, haven't looked.

Hello tbear,
PSP must be a program. What is the full name, and is the license free?

Sorry for not being clearer - I'm talking about the Print Screen KEY on the physical keyboard, top right. Nothing to do with browser or any software button.

OK, that works good. I think this will do the job, thanks!

Hi KG2RG,
PSP - Yes, Paint Shop Pro is a programme, sadly not free but fairly inexpensive compared to Photo Shop I believe. You can take it for a trial run to see if you like it. :)

I don't think there is... you have to use the good old Print Screen key (on Windows) and the Ctrl-V into a new (Photoshop) document!

a bit OT but when I wanted to make little buttons on photoshop....you can use MS Excel and seemingly when you copy and paste it into photoshop it turns into a pic! :)

I guess "giffing" your site would be good to stop people nicking your work.....ie cant copy n paste / resize. OT tho :)

Alt-Print Screen is good too - it captures just the current window, not the whole screen

Thanks for that - a nice trick I didn't know about!
