Now available for download at their site:

We are working hard to create features and services you want in Netscape 7.0. Netscape 7.0 PR1 is a pre-release version for users to test and provide feedback.

Is there any good reason (outside of advertising) that this should be named version 7 instead of 6.3?

Once upon a time browser version numbers corresponded, roughly at least, to HTML versions that they supported. By that logic, this browser should support XHTML 3.0, right?

Then NN4.79 should be renamed NN3.9, since it still does not (nor ever will) fully support HTML4 (iframes anyone?).

It's a pretty safe bet that those whacky guys in marketing were (wisely) trying to distance the new release from the bitter taste of 6.0 & 6.1 - I guess it's their way of saying the entire 6.x family was no more than an extended beta... ;)

Netscape v.7 is what v.6 Final should have been: a solid, feature rich web standards compliant browser. Thank goodness for the Mozilla project!

By the way... I've been perusing the Opera forums and I here the rumbling of Opera 7 (can you say DOM support? Look for GOOD things to come! Beta late summer/early fall?).
