Anyone have any info on this or can offer some pointers on how we can refine our HTML to be readable on these email accounts.
Thanks.
It's housed on FirstClass software from SoftArc (a common college and business bulletin board system.) It's very full-featured for community members, but it didn't accept HTML from the outside world until the most recent version. Older versions of Claris Emailer also won't take HTML.
2. Here's a resource for AOL and HTML email [promotionbase.com].
I believe only versions 6 and 7 of AOL read HTML formatted email (and they still have some quirks) so many promoters will only send text to an AOL address unless they've explicitly opted in as preferring HTML.
3. I think Hotmail and Yahoo are, in general, pretty good with HTML. I've heard that Hotmail may have some issues with background images -- and I'll bet there are a few other quirks as well.
In general, go easy on the very fancy stuff. I'd say if your message really needs a full blown web page, it probably should be on a web page rather than in an Inbox!
