Getting Started vs Doing Business sections

Two channels (expert/novice) or just one (everyone)

We currently have a site which many people use. We are hoping to expand this by increasing our online applications over the next two years.

I have been told to add on a "business center" page for each of our main areas, essentially a portal page, in addition to our channel page. The channel page explains everything in detail. The business center page would be terse and offer all applications.

I am not sure this is the best route. The options are:

A. a channel page with explainations and a terse portal page with applications and little explaination

B. a getting started page/section and a terse portal page with explainations

C. one page combining the two with rollover help

I am sure which is the best way to educate new users and not bore/turn-off existing knowledgable users.....

Any advice/experiences?

I hope your point A is the better solution. Because the new user always looking for entry point only.
