Hi everyone,

I just found this on our web site stats.

Does anyone know what this is for?

Microsoft Data Access Internet Publishing Provider Protocol Discovery

Thanks!

I think it is a OLEDB provider supplied by Microsoft that can manipulate the FrontPage Server Extensions. See this reference [msdn.microsoft.com] for some clue.

Thanks for the feedback. This makes more sense.

Well then, since my domain has just been hit by this:

"Microsoft Data Access Internet Publishing Provider Protocol Discovery"

Is this something I need to prevent via .htaccess or let my host server worry about?

They do have provisions for those who wish to use FP, although I don't use the application myself.

Time to go to work, but I'll check back later.

Thanks all who respond to this, uh, elderly post. <chuckle>
