I would like to know if other people in here have a font preference, and if you your reasons why you choose a certain font! :)
Yep, It's an imprecise medium, that's what I've been dribbling on about. When I visit this site I have to scale the fonts up to 150% to be able to use it.
That's the key right there, it's an imprecise medium. And if you are designing for 100% accessibility, its something you'll have to accept and design around the imprecision. I'm going to keep testing as we don't officially launch the site in question until 06.01.2002. I've got plenty of time to experiment and see what my beta testers say.

What percentage of users do you think know how to adjust their font sizes? A percentage spread would be fine, maybe something like...
40% to 60%
Or do you think the number is higher?
Very few I fear, my guess would be less than 10%
When I first browsed to that page in IE6+, I had to adjust my font setting from medium to smaller to see it probably as you intended. At medium, the body text was too bold. At smaller, it was just right.
Reading this, I was wondering what pageoneresults's default font size could be, since, for the mentioned page, I viewed it fine, with no bold text, at my browser's default medium setting.
I became curious as to where IE stored the default text size (16, 12, etc), and I just realized...
What percentage of users do you think know how to adjust their font sizes?
I don't even know how to change my font size! Other than IE's "View... Text Size" I can't find where to set what "Medium" is. In Netscape and IE/Mac I can find where to change the default size, but not in IE5/Win98.

I've asked if there are any stats on a usability list I'm a member of but it could take a while to get the data...
