.pl file does not run (IE only)

Runs OK in Firefox

My hosting company provides a webmail interface, and this uses a perl script to display email content.

Quite often, when I try to open an email using IE a dislog is displayed that says ...

Do you want to open or save this file?

Name: readmail.pl
Type: Unknown File Type
From: <hosting company domain>

Exactly the same email will open perfectly using Firefox.

Any ideas? Does an option need ticking somewhere for IE?

Why do you need to open it in IE?

Sounds like the perl script may not be outputting a valid content-type in the http header.
