I'm wondering what I need to do to allow the use of HTML code inside a text field. We have a simple discussion board on our website, and would like to be able to do things like adding code for a hyperlink. On most forums I see you are required to use some sort of [code] syntax to accomplish this. I'm hoping there's an easy way to implement this or even a totally different way to do this simply. Any advice?

Hi nwhorton,

The codes you refer to are commonly called [ubb] codes -- named after an early bulletin board package. Nowadays you will still see this technique used ( WebmasterWorld uses them ) but you will also see "Rich Text Editors" or RTE's. There are quite a few of them out there. Doing a search on the keyword phrase will turn up plenty of options. TinyMCE is one that gets lots of notice but there are plenty to analyze and choose from.
