What spacer between your links in the menu bar?

At the moment I had a pipe "¦" spacer in between my menu links. which I understand is widely displayed as intended cross browser?

Is there a universal character like a large full stop (period) that I could use to the same effect (apart from using an image).

I've seen (and used some of) the following:

Home :: About :: Contact

Home - About - Contact

Home ~ About ~ Contact

[Home] [About] [Contact]

Also do a search for 'html symbols' and you'll find more than a few sites which have lists of symbols you may be able to use.
