I'm trying to find a good script so that people can suggest or email a particular page to friends. I found one that seemed okay, but it redirects the visitor to a page full of ads on a different site after submission. Any recommendations?

My experience with tell-a-friend scripts is limited to five years on a 400 unique visitors a day site. In those years about 25 people actually used it. Comparing that to the security risks made me finally decide to take it away.
The site I'm talking about has lots of email referrers. People seem to prefer their own mailprogram or webmail.

And I certainly wouldn't use the script you found. Try to find one that stays on your site. There are lots of them.

I think that it very much depends on the nature of the site. I have one on a site which has information of a kind that people are likely to share, and it is used a LOT, several times a day with 1000 - 1500 daily uniques.

I agree you need to find a script that you can host yourself, one that has at least some protection against it being used for spam. There are loads at Hotscripts in all flavours.
