Tool acting as a browser simulator

Does it exist something similar?

I'd like to check my pages with different browsers, different version of these browsers and possibly at different resolutions. I have discarded the idea to install all of them, on different platforms also..

Does it exist a such thing?
Something even less powerful would be a great help anyway!

Thanks

Well, you could always try something like BrowserCam [browsercam.com].

There are various screenshot tools, but none of them can check even basic website functionality. They merely give an impression of whether the the page layout is working.

However you usually don't need to go overboard with browser testing - many browsers are cross-platform or share the same core, so for example checking with Firefox means that you can expect things to work in Mozilla 1.0 and Netscape 7 on Windows, Linux and Mac.

The two difficulties are multiple IE versions, which are problematic to install together (but doable [webmasterworld.com]). For IE, you don't need multiple machines, a great investment is a product like VMWare where you can multiple virtual machines with different OS/browser combinations. The second difficulty is Apple's Safari - you can test in Konqueror by using a Linux LiveCD such as Kubuntu, but you still need a Mac to do any in-depth checking in Safari.
