Hi all I'm in trouble deep, I have been trying to learn JavaScript and use the JavaScript console a lot in my Firefox browser. Using the default Firefox/Google homepage even doing any kind of search in the search box, the, one that's next to the line with browser file, view, edit, etc., brings up an error. The error in that case is

"Warning: function ga does not always return a value
Source File: [google.com...]
Line: 34, Column: 80
Source Code:
¦¦ p==a ¦¦ r==a) return true;top.location.href=document.getElementById(a).href}}"

I have all my extensions disabled. I have reinstalled Firefox several times. And it still happens. If I turn on some of my extensions you get still more JavaScript errors by many of those extensions even once you would expect the creator would have been very careful to get them right. So I am beside myself had a life fix this problem. Is there another JavaScript console that installing would fix this problem, do I have to somehow totally delete Firefox from my machine before reinstalling it and if so how will I reinstall mine extensions in one fell swoop.
Any suggestions gratefully appreciated
Marc

As the page in question does not generate any Javascript errors when I try it, it would suggest that there may be something wrong with your Firefox installation, possibly caused by an extension which was broken or badly installed or uninstalled.

Probably the best course of action is to find and delete your Firefox profile directory, which is where all your personal settings and extensions are held. (You should take a backup first so you can recuperate your bookmarks file.) The location of the profile directory depends on your operating system. Which OS and version are you running?

encyclo I have already backed up my bookmarks by exporting them. And have a ready-made direct links to my extensions to reinstall them. This will be a lot of work and you may have suggestions that will fix the problem easier than what I'm about to attempt. I think I will forge ahead doing a complete uninstall and installing a new downloaded version of Firefox. If this does not work I certainly appreciate your interest in giving me some help. And we'll post to this thread again if I cannot get it working even doing this. My Firefox version is 1.0.7. I am running Windows XP.

High I guess I am go to require some more help. I tried removing Firefox by using the Microsoft uninstall which appear to uninstall it. Reinstalling my Firefox from a freshly downloaded copy brings back all the bookmarks extensions and problems. So I also tried doing a search on Firefox and a leading what appear to be the Firefox program. Again we installing Firefox from a fresh copy brought back everything including the problems. So I guess I need that it advice as to exactly what those files are that are causing the problem and what I have to delete and reinstall to get rid of my problem.
