The image shows up fine on all 4 computers I own between my office and home in 3 different browsers (IE, Firefox, Netscape).
Yet when I visit my Dad's and try to view it on his computer everything comes up except for that header graphic. All the other images on the page show up. Just not that @#!%& graphic. I have even deleted all files, cookies, history, etc. from the browser options and nothing. Nada.
Now here is the tricky part. When looking at the source code for the page (on my Dad's computer), the html code for the image is not even there! It is as if the browser is totally ignoring it.
I have reuploaded the page several times but still nothing.
Anyone know what I may be overlooking? Or what the cause of this is?
Adblocking software - I am not sure
Image size is 350 x 85 and the file name/path does not have anything unusual except that the file name has the word 'logo'.
I have another site which I basically used as a template to create the page in question and it has identical code for the header yet that image shows up.
McAffe antivirus software. Could this be the culprit?
Sure could be -- Norton, McAfee and other anti-virus/anti-spyware apps have an "Ad Blocking" feature that can also end up blocking some regular content.
There have been lots of complaints about it recently (from merchants usually) -- most especially when ad blocking is turned on by default, instead of off by default, so the user doesn't even know that reguolar content is also missing along with the ads.
Disable first and then weight your options.
Thanks for the advise, however, The object is not to remedy the problem from the users computer but rather do what I can to prevent it from happening on any computer.
I guess I'll try some experimentation with different filenames, paths, etc. to see if I get a different result.
Thank ya'll for the input I really appreciate it.
Also try uneven dimensions for th graphic. A 350 x 85 image may be blocked but not a 351 x 84 image.
BINGO!
Or at least that may have been it. Before I left the office a couple of hours ago I changed the image size to 347 x 84 and renamed it.
Then I swung by Mom & Dad's to see it... had to wait a while because Dad now works from home and he was on his machine. Eventually got to and... IT IS THERE. I don't know for sure what did it because I changed 2 things but I suspect it was the size that did it.
I would normally try each thing one at a time to see exactly what did it but being that I have to drive all the way to his house this would not be convenient.
Anyhow, thanks Tedster and everyone else's suggestions. I feel unstumped!
