Image resizing with IE

images magically "miniaturized"

I'm developing some help files containing standard .gif images. I've completely removed any .css image styling at this point.

The trouble: Images seem to just randomly "miniaturize" themselves when viewing in IE6. I'm talking beyond thumbnail. I can't imagine this is uncommon--but I've never seen it. Can this be controlled? Thanks for comments.

what size images does this occur with, or is it with all images?

IE has a feature that can be turned on or off, that will automatically size down large photos to a height smaller than your browser window.

When hovering over the image, the bottom left should pop-up a button that when clicked, puts the image back to it's original size.

As this is specific to the individual user's browser settings, I don't think there is any way of forcing or preventing this action. (to my knowledge anyways) If any one knows other wise, please post!

I should have addeed more detail here. They are typically larger images, but not always. And I do have the resizing option turned off. I'm wondering if this could be the result of the pop-up window that is created when the "help" button is clicked. It is smaller than normal screen size--could this be part of the problem?
