We have a current defect when using this version of Netscape (7.01) wherein there is a large space between the main body and the footer.

However this is not an issue when using IE and Netscape 7.02 and newer versions.

I am using DIV tags and CSS to encapsulate the main body and the footer. I have been looking if there's a release notes that discusses this to prove that instead of a possible workaround, we might use a new version.

Thanks!

Welcome to the forums, antgod.

There is a difference between Netscape 7.01 and 7.02 even though they claim to be the same release version (1.0.2) of the underlying Gecko rendering engine. The build dates are about 3 months apart, so there may well have been bug fixes during that time.

However, Netscape 7.0.1 (or any of the 7.x series) is no longer a supported browser by Netscape, and the numbers still using it are very low. You might want to check support in the last Netscape 7.2 as well as in the latest Firefox (currently 1.0.6) as the user numbers for these browsers are much higher - especially for Firefox.

Hi Encyclo,

Thanks for the reply. Do you happen to know where I could find a document listing all bugs reported for Netscape 7.01 browser?

I just need to confirm this and show to the client that the bug exists and suggest not to support this.

Thanks!

Netscape 7.0.1 almost doesn't exist anymore out there, Firefox has taken over almost all the market from the other Gecko netscape branded browsers.

I checked a large site I do, this week we had 6 netscape 7.0.1 and 4 netscape 7.0 browsers visit. This is not an issue in the real world. It sounds to me like a version of the gecko top margin bug, this is fixable, sorry but can't remember the exact CSS that fixes that, but what happens is that the margin from one element gets moved about wrong, might not be fixable in 7.0.1, and it'd definitely not worth spending any development time on, worry about browser versions with real market share.
