transitional xhtml and .swf syntax

Hello folks,

I'm trying to clean up my site and ran into a snaffu with regards to making it meet XHTML 1.0 Transitional standards. More specifically, the code for my flash movies. I run into:
there is no attribute "src" on
<embed src="flash/imperial_header.swf"
does anybody have any experience with this sort of thing that might be able to shed some light on it for me. Hopefully a solution shy of removing the flash :)
