Suddenly, higher PR

Checking some stats this morning caught me by surprise

I just went through my normal morning routine of checking a number of web site's statistics, when I noticed a PR of 6 on a page that isn't allowed in Google (robots.txt exclusion to stats sub-folder).

When I checked the homepage of that domain, I saw a PR of 7. This catches me by surprise because the site was just finished four or five days ago. Upon looking into other sites, I'm also seeing a much higher level of PR. Things like PR 5's becoming 7's, etc.

This is based only on what I'm seeing via the toolbar on my home machine. Certainly not as robust as my work computer, but still - from what I can tell, this is odd and has not happened before.

Anyone else noticing this?

>>or just update to the latest version (1.1.70) which solves the problems<<

I'm still seeing fluctuations with 1.1.70. A new incoming linking page sometimes shows 5 and sometimes shows 6. I'd rather have it 6. ;)

I think I remember, in one of the current Google update threads, GoogleGuy posted that in this update we might expect some PageRank fluctuation... but now I can't find it. Did anyone see it? Can anyone clarifying what's going on?

There is the 1) toolbar glitch, which was spoke about at the start of the thread :)

And then there is also the usual PR fluctuations from the update, as the database migrates throughout the various data centers at Google.

So, if the PR is dangling between 5 & 6, it is more than likely that, if the backlinks changed on the site, it could be the variation from the update causing this fluctuation.

However, if you know of no link changes to the page or site in question, it could very well simply be the toolbar fluctuations as caused by the current glitch.

Does that help?

Thanks. I was figuring it was one or the other. Wasn't sure whether I was going to have to live with a PR5 inbound link when, earlier today I'd thought it was a 6.

Did anyone figure this out?
I go directly to the toolbar and get a PR7 for a new webpage not yet indexed by Google - have not been on any other site And my cache has been cleaned out.
If there was an explanation in this thread I missed it.
