Hey guys, I was just wondering when the next google webcrawl is going to occur or has it already passed?

Thanks for your help

Welcome to WebmasterWorld, GoldenRanker.

The short answer: No one knows.

Google crawls all month, but assuming you mean the BIG monthly crawl, that's once a month some time starting around the last week of the month. The update comes first.

The last two updates were Halloween and Thanksgiving, but I remember GoogleGuy commenting about Christmas, I'm assuming it won't be then, since a lot of their people will probably be going out of town to be with family.

My best guess is that if it doesn't happen this weekend it could possibly be after the 1st of January. But guess is all we can do.

I'm guessing it will be Christmas...they seem to update when you should be enjoying time with your family instead of watching your blood pressure rise while watching the dance.

I got hit with a DEEP crawl on and about the 13th of December, and not from the usual Freshbot IP address, which I take to be the crawl for the next update. That's not to say completely it's over now, though.

When was last year's December crawl?

In 2000 it was on the 19th, last year was the 27th. Here's the full history (without the last one):

GoogleGuy made a cryptic comment about updates having been on Holidays recently, but not to expect one on Christmas, so I plugged that into the Google translation tools page [google.com...]

... and out popped "New Year's Eve".

I was thinking that, this year, Google might not be able to resist an update on the near confluence of the solstice and the full moon, but it didn't happen.

About Christmas... an update giveth, and an update taketh away, and they may not want to be Scroogel. I vote for the day after Christmas.

Robert:

That's gotta be an update classic!

OTOH, they may be partying that night, it could be a matter of too much Groggle.

Dance with me, I want to be your partner.
Can't you see the deep crawl is just starting?
Rank is climbing, and I'm everfluxing.
Dance with me.

Move me up put me to page one.
P R 8, and backlinks all around us.
I can make 9 if you want to go.

Dance with me, I want to be your partner.

Hi everybody! First of all: merry christmas and happy new year!
Do you know when Google will dance again? :-) I suppose around the last days of 2002. Is it correct?
Bye!

Twas the night before Christmas
And all through the Net
Not a creature was stirring
Except for a Bot

The pages were hung on the servers with care
In hope that Saint Google soon would be there

I'm having nightmares about a white (toolbar) Christmas.

Hope you've all left some sherry and mince pies for Google.

Whatever, I'm having a couple of days off. Let it update. Or not. Doesn't matter when.

Merry Christmas

LOL....no you are probably seeing a freshbot update.

The update hasn't started, check the backlinks to a few major sites for verification!

On www, www2, and www3, the search command of: link:www.yahoo.com still returns the same results.

When these results are different, it is safe to say that the update is on.

All still 632,000. There's still time to put together a whole new site in time for the crawl!

I just mentioned this in another thread, where GoogleGuy said, very early on Christmas Day:

[GoogleGuy gets up and does the Google Dance all around the room. He acts like a dinosaur a little bit ("Yar!"). Sometimes he does that when he gets really psyched about cool things like the new year. GoogleGuy realizes that he may be a little hyper from too many holiday cookies, and sits back down.]

So it is official. Expect the monthly update sometime on December 25th (in the U.S.)

Why do some new sites of my homepage listed by freshbot get a pagerank and some sites which are new don't?

Thanks for answer
