swizz, it isn't the cache, but your rankings in the SERPs. The Freshbot updates the home page of my main site *daily*. This is normal.

Thnx rfgdxm1 :)
I think we all just have to seat calm and wait until the beaver and his friends on google finish opening the gifts ...

Although not seeing any changes in actual results I am seeing changes in number of results returned, blaming that on the flux too.

Come on Google press that button! More excited about this than I was Christmas.

Been seeing a steady 632 on all for many, many days. Anybody checking the serps and raising alarms is watching the wrong measure. Watch the 632 and when that moves on WWW3, Houston we'll have liftoff.

OK iid join in.IId submit that the reason the bot likes holidays is not holidays per se, but that web traffic as a whole is slow and connections maybe faster. Given that, the whole period Xmas to 1st january is slow with relatively low traffic. If they crawled in the past few days, next months index will all be about Xmas! "Merry Xmas to all our visitors!" Any time in the next 5 days is what i say!

Three kings day, which is bigger than Christmas in most Latin countries, is Jan 6. Ouch, that would hurt...

But my prediction was wrong :( That the update would begin when they fully opened the presents.

Just an observation:

The bear got a bowl of honey
The Rabit got ear muffs
The beaver got a toothbrush
The penguin... looks like he just made a bow tie out of the bow and ribon that was around the box?

I think the penguin got the raw end of the deal.

lol, just killing time waiting for a different number than 632,000

Can I just ask, do we have confirmation from some one in the know (GG) that the big red button is in fact red?

Speaking on behalf of the Central Intelligence Agency, The Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Defense Department, and the Association of Google Obsessed Webmasters, we can neither confirm nor deny the existance of a red button which begins the update.

Come on, Come on... (drumming fingers impatiently)
Get on with it. Christmas is over. Time to update.
Give us some excitement in that black hole of a week between the 25th and the 31st.

Maybe it'll start when the bear has eaten all the honey?

>> I think the penguin got the raw end of the deal.

They seem to have made a lot of deals :o

On the fourth picture the beaver takes the green box, then it turns blue - and then green again.
The penguin takes a small yellow box (not the big yellow box on picture 1) - then it turns white (the box - not the penguin).

<sigh>When will the update begin? </sigh>

there are 2 buttons in the buttonroom: one is for " start update database" and the other one is for "skipping the update until next month"

Hagstrom you are very observant - I think we all get too focussed at this time of the month! ;)

Maybe the rabbit unwrapped his present and said 'Hey beaver, your teeth are even bigger than mine - want to swap, my toothbrush for those earmuffs?'.

Well done to the Google Art Department - keeping us entertained!

Still waiting - it will happen while I'm asleep, I bet :).

I've been seeing changes between www and www2/www3 for the past couple of days. Nothing dramatic (other than one of my sites dropping from the first page of www for a couple of hours yesterday), but this is the sort of thing that I always see just before the dance becomes official.

does the penguin gettin a red bowtie mean the dance is only a semi-formal this timea round?
