Google PR -- Next Update?

Hello everyone. I'm a newbie to the forum and this is probably an old question, but it seems that google has not done a pr update in at least 2 months. Is this correct and does anybody know what is going on? Is there about to be a major change in how google calculates pr as well as the frequency?

Are you sure you are typing in the full URL that google used to index the site? For example, if I type in www.iamsickofpeoplesayingwidgets.com and have a PR of 6 on that page, I will get a white bar if I typed in www.iamsickofpeoplesayingwidgets.com/index.html

It all depends on what people are using to link to you.

Yep, I am using the correct URL.

Weird things today with my google toolbar. My home page is still showing 0 PR but at one point in time it went back to 6 PR, but now at 0 again.

I am just wandering what would be causing this and if I should be alarmed.

You may try reinstalling your toolbar - a few weeks ago some users got something similar and this fixed it

some of my pages with PR 0 are ranking very high that means G knows already the backlinks though the tool bar hasn't been updated.

For the few sites that i monitor, the PR has gone up. So a PR update has taken place.

If it is a new site it will appear and disappear seemingly at random, dont be alarmed it will come back.

There has not been a PR update will a while as far as I can tell, because those sites are new the PR will jump about a bit.

Yeah I noticed today that one of my sites has changed, the home page which was PR6 has gone to PR0 and some of the internal pages have increased to PR6!

Could this be a warning of things to come, or is it a google blip, and maybe the home page will bounce back?

BTW: this is not a new site, been live for well over a year

Just to add to the mix here:

I noticed the backlink update on the 31st of August. Also on that day we plummeted from 10th to the second page and then down to 39th. When I check the logs, I see that the googlebot didn't visit us once on the 31st. That is VERY unusual. Normally we see 20-25 hits(it's a very small site). The updated backlinks show a vast improvment for us and show more backlinks than the sites sitting at the top of the serps for our main keyword.

Also, we made some changes to the text body some two or three weeks ago which added quite a bit of text. I'm thinking of pulling some of that text as my webmaster says that we have too much, much more than the sites sitting at the top. As it stands we have about 2-3% keyword density(from about 5%) and about 900 words in the body. That is about double the words that the top two top sites have.

One of the interesting things about the new backlinks is that we are showing a fairly massive amount of links in blogs. Neither myself or the webmaster added these. Can they drag a site's serp down in the manner we've been hammered?

Those were not new sites i mentioned but big portals which have been there for over 5 years. The PR seems to be updated. I noticed it has jumped one point.

I've noticed that my homepage PR has stayed the same (6) while a few of my internal PR6 pages have dropped to PR5. But my rankings are improving overall. Nowhere near the top as of yet, but I have plans . . . ;)

I think the only time we should really pay attention to a 'Google Pagerank Update' post is when it says:

'Google Pagerank Update WAS today'

ie; Past sense. Because the google pagerank update is always 'Today'.

P.S. With any luck ... the above might make some sense? It's almost 2am and i'm tired... :p

I have several websites and not seen any Page Rank changes but yes backlinks...

The funny thing is, I have a new website Google says it has 22 back links ( internal links are showing up ) and has no page rank. Not to sure what to make of it...

Any ideas?

Same here, 181 back links showing but no PR yet!

Anyone else notice that, whilst the numbers aren't changing the tool bar has been?

recently, all the pages in my site have been looking a rather skinny 4 on the tool bar. Yesterday, they were still all 4's but somehow appeared a little fatter - close enough for me to check that hadn't gone all 5 on me.

Today, skinny 4's again.

My traffic is up another 10%, SERPS since the weekend and it's coming from Google. The SERPS have changed at times - don't know whether we went backwards again today.

hello guys,

could anyone help me with this, all the 50 or so pages on my site show a PR5, well as far as I can see all (most of) other websites have their index page ranked one point higher than the inner pages.

I do see the back links change frequently but the PR for my site has stayed a foot for more then 1 year now all the 50 odd pages have PR5.

A high PR 5 home page could pass enough that all your inner pages show as a 5. Remember, all PR 5's are not equal.

Hmmm, I can see some PR changes, although they are all PRx to PR0 or vice versa.

over the last few days I've seen a few sites jumping from zero to 5's back to zero which would normally imply an update is on the cards but right now god only knows.

I saw yahoo with a PR0 through the whole site last week, back to normal now.
