Google PR -- Next Update?

Hello everyone. I'm a newbie to the forum and this is probably an old question, but it seems that google has not done a pr update in at least 2 months. Is this correct and does anybody know what is going on? Is there about to be a major change in how google calculates pr as well as the frequency?

Maybe PageRank (the green bar) is no longer a priority as it is only for Google Toolbar users. PageRank may have been updated internally (I have seen many of my pages jump up over the past two weeks) but Google has not displayed this to the rest of the world.

This would be a wise move as if Google showed a lower PR than a site was actually worth, it could stop PR link selling. In fact, I think Google were unwise to display such an important ranking factor when they released the toolbar as it gave a perfect opportunity for black hat SEO. I'm sure they thought they were giving the public something interesting but they were just shooting themselves in the foot ..... they really need to hire some top level spammers to show them what the world is really like ......

Well I understand that reasoning and agree with it. But the question I have is if and when new sites will be assigned their PageRank.

I know sites released in April that still haven't received page rank yet. (Despite plenty of inbounds).

For me to see PageRank on mine, I am looking forward to the Google Directory update.

No one links to page rank 0 sites. Therefore google created this system and has 88% of my traffic so until something better comes along they be fair and give the punters what they want. Why do they have to be so secretive, it really gets on my goat!

I've linked to a PR0 website, and that site linked to me... Now it is PR5 and my link is still there ;) Don't go after PR, go after content!

I have noticed some minor differences between www, www2 and www3. Anyone else seeing this? Are the staging servers used for anything else besides and update?

Looks like another tweak aimed at boosting clean but low quality sites, as well as some of the worst zero-content spam to be seen in the Google results in nine months.

I keep telling myself not to believe this is possible, but it really does appear like Google is actually *believing* the trash backlink information it is showing.

That's very true! They do need a reality check though, a couple of PHD students making it big from a piece of software is about as realistic to the state of the world as the winner of Pop Idol. That's why security firms hire people who can hack computers as well as guard them - know your enemy

...... Google haven't seemed to latch onto this concept yet and I expect that MSN will jump ahead of them in this respect as they have already taken such an approach with their own software (you'll notice they find more problems with their own software than the hackers) .....

My serps are showing cache back to August 3rd, where they were as recent as the 18th or 20th, and the same results for searches with the initial drop from August 3rd. ANyone else had this happen. Seems like they dumped and went backwards AGAIN.

I agree 100%. Seems as if the spam filter must be 'broke' in regards to a lot of travel serps... It just gets worse and worse. Many sites with PR-0 - yet they still dominate the top 10 in most cases, especially with 2nd & 3rd tier keywords.

Why remove it when you can so easily use it to mislead simple webmasters & SEO's, who are in all reality, the only people that hang on to the PR in the Toolbar.

Judging by how Google is treating backlinks, it should display randow PRs for low PR pages while zeroing out high PR pages.

Anyone can say PR is not important, and that it should go away, but let's be honest. Why would Google get rid of something that obviously everyone keeps track of? I didn't say everyone LIKES. But since this system is in place, it is hard for even the Anti-PR webmasters not to look at their PR and compare it to their competition.

Roll out the PR Google. We are ready.

One of my newer pages seems to have gotten some PR. Others look the same though. I am wondering if they are in the middle of the next update too....

two months ago i've closed one of my site..all page changed to a default page that contain a message to go on the new url of the site..

but since today the old site has always been on google search results.. with "allinurl:" command i have always seen a lot of page indexed... just today.. on two google servers google allinurl command show only 40 pages indexed instead of 20 000+ .. probably google is updating something today :)
