I am trying to find out how I can see if my website is blacklisted with Google, anyone any idea?
my website was previously PR5 to PR6, top-ranking and just disappeared from the index. Toolbar says: page not ranked, it is nowhere in the index, can't be found even when searching for the URL. This happened from one day to the other.
Also site:****x does not return any results
But:
Backlinks are still showing! Plus there is a cached snapshot that one can see using the 'Cached snapshot of Page' function in the toolbar.
I have not done any changes to this site in the last months, except exchanging some links. Who can help clear this up? Any advise would be much much appreciated.
Let me ask you, was your site down at any point in the recent past? Its possible googlebot may have come around when the site was down. If that was the case, I understand that getting reindexed is much quicker today than it used to be.
Toolbar says: page not ranked,
Do you mean your PR went from PR6 to a white bar? If so, then something is definitely up.
Have you changed anything in your site that would make it difficult for a spider to crawl?
Have you linked to other sites that have been banned? Generally, you would have to link to more than just one to have it effect you?
I am going on the assumption that you are not using tricks that could get you in trouble either via a filter or competitor reporting you and Google doing a hand review of your site.
I'm sure others with more knowledge will chime in here.
Do you mean your PR went from PR6 to a white bar?
No, I mean my PR went from PR6 to a gray bar.
I have not changed anything at all. If google engineers have looked at my site, I don't have any idea why would they ever want to remove it from the index.
Was your site down at any point in the recent past?
My site was not down. If that would be so easy...
I really don't understand this.
I'm sure others with more knowledge will chime in here.
Unfortunatelly, dreams seldom come true :-(

banning and dropping means you get a grey bar, and nothing with the site: command.
PR0 and a white bar means your backlinks disappeared. you probably employed blogging spam techniques which were picked up on and dropped by Google in the Austin update, late January. Not to worry though, you just need to go find permanent links now.
My sites backlinks still appear in Google and the site is now a PR0 from a measly PR3.
The funny thing is that the site is just a spare time project and is non-competitive. It is not optimized, has only a few outbound links (all to reputable sites) and is doing nothing that I see that Google would frown upon....what am I missing?
With regard to the banned sites, do the following.
1) Check your robots.txt file. Has an employee (just fired) banned googlebot?
2) Check your host. Believe it or not, hosts have banned googlebot in the past. There have been several threads here on WW in the last year.
3) Check for hidden text (even accidental) and other bad practices.
4) Check for links to bad domains. Delete all links to other sites that are gray-barred.
5) When you are certain that your site will pass a detailed inspection, email Google. Be concise and polite. Perhaps others may suggest another email address but webmaster-AT-google.com ¦ subject = reinclusion request is probably as good as any.
6) Cross your fingers and toes and wait. If none of the above works it's time to register a new domain name and possibly find a new host (in case Google has banned you because of your IP address).
Kaled.
PS I haven't been banned. The above is just a summary of what's been said here on WW in the past.
or, maybe i just got lucky :)
BANNING! if a site of 5, all duplicated and all from
one domain Company and shows off with about 200 thousand listed across the board and two of these ranks even right below each other, first two from yes
dups from this company. Is this not a subject for banning? Makes us wonder on top of everything why
it remains to be for almost 2 years now!
Yet I see here many have no idea or don't know why
there site might have been gone and are asking for help!
Can anyone have any comments on this please..
thanks
I had subscribed to the Links2U program - instant zap. When that was removed from my pages - it was included again on the next crawl.
Hope this helps.
Moral of the story. My site was banned. YAY! for yahoo's new index.
They don't own the net and crawl sites, index and rank without permission so wouldn't penalizing a site kinda be like slander?
That might be a reason why they don't respond to all emails. "Plausable deniability" we plea the 5th!
All being said how about the new yahoo :)
when I did a search for "mydomainname" it was the very last result. (not ****xx.com just xxxxx)
after 3 months of waiting and seeing my other sites already had PR, I ran a link check to find 3 broken links on the new site.
Googlebot was only dropping by once a month.
I fixed the broken links.
about a month later, Googlebot came back and started indexing. Now the last 10 days, Googlebot has been visiting everyday.
Since Brandy results have appeared, whilst the toolbar still shows no PR, It certainly seems like we have PR in the algo as the site is coming up number 2 in the serps where it was previously not showing at all.
In one of the original PageRank documents, there is mention to the effect that high PR pages/sites are crawled more frequently whilst low PR pages less frequently as 404's, timeout's ,etc. are a waste of resources when the googlebot is trying to crunch through as many pages as possible, in the least amount of time.
It's the reason high PR pages are crawled so often.
Im confident that I will see some PR on the toolbar for this site soon as toolbar PR is updated.
Finally after 6 months its actually ranking well.
moral of the story....
"watch out for dead links"
peace,
