Powdork, I'm not sure if you'd call it an update exactly (different algorithms play more of a role than different data). But I'm guessing the change will probably roll out over the course of the weekend.

Well I see for a lot of keywords that the amazone results are now gone on most keywords that I track.

That is very nice as it did not bring anything good to the results most of the time. Good job Google!

In my opinion and from what I saw with my sites on the Austin Update, G affected sites with non or little inbound links to remove A LOT of spam appearing in the top serps. (Perhaps this will not be the case for many of you.)

In the Brandy algo change I see very good serps with high keyword relevant sites going back to the top (and a few Amazon clones as well in there in some cases), but much better results.

Any ideas on what part of the algorithm was boosted/lowered to reflect changes in Brandy?

Steve, what do you mean by this? Google bombing or just the importance of anchor text.

It looks to me like anchor text is key. While I see relevant results in my industry as a whole, they rank based on anchor text.

I am glad to say some of my sites have come back, and they are the ones I would expect to come back. Better links, more content ect, ect.

My more weaker sites have not and I think although I miss the money they use to make they probably don't deserve to be at the top anymore anyway.

So well done Google for a good job on Brandy and for keeping me on my toes.

If these results do roll out across all the datacenters it will certainly be a step in the right direction. In the sectors I follow I notice a return of a number of quality sites to the serps and the directory sites which were previously dominating are now not so prominent. I think that Google is slowly weeding out the spammy sites and is tweaking the filtering to ensure that sites that provide good content are listed. The Florida and Austin updates certainly hit many good websites as well as many more spam / affiliate only sites. With this update I'm seeing a number of the good websites returning whilst the spam / affiliate sites are still be filtered out which is what is best for the end user.

Most part of webmasters from WW like Brandy. But not me. As CuriousMusing said "slow death" is a real problem fro my site. After Brandy for my keywords nothing changed - each month I loosing additional keywords. It goes since Florida. After first rankings for about 70 KW1KW2 phrases I have now only 5. Tell you the truth - I don't know what to do. I added new content, removed kw density, add new backlinks. Nothing.

Maybe anyone know how to fight with the slow death? How to force google to crawl site properly? How to bring it back to Serps?

A little stupid question but what can I do!?......

P.S. The most interesting that all the other search engines (msn, altavista, alltheweb etc) rank my site as #1 for my main KW1KW2 and I'm in top 5 for the other additional KW. It's a pity that this is only 5% of google traffic for the same KWs

allan, I found what you are seeing. Large SoCal cities look good, while others, including a <city>, leave much to be desired.

One interesting change..........for the last 15 days, all sites are crawled daily, with freshdate every 48 hours, the last being 13th.

Im now back in Google, just not ranked yet. We wait in hope.

SERPS look good at least one of the spam sites from the top has been knocked off.

64 is bad for me.

I agree with an earlier post that "this mechanism is cutting out some of the lovely/cool/unique/informative hobby and mom & pop sites"

My 3 word keyphrase is in a very small niche and I have enjoyed position 6 and 7 for months. With 64 I'm on page 3! Now, you'll see classified ads, small searchengine directories, and a variety of other sites that aren't relevant.

216 is SO much better...much more relevant, although there is one of those directory results on page one, 216 does a much better job of putting the few relevant sites right at the top.

I sure hope 64 doesn't stick, or at least that it's not finished being tweaked. It will ruin me.

Definitely still tweaking, and it would seem a bit more harsh again? At least from this seat.

Since yesterday, I've seen more of those small site relevant pages knocked out.

Also, G, please...get rid of those booksite pages. In one search I did, pages from bookseller sites occupied no less than 8 of the top 30 slots.

On the assumption that even Joe Sixpack doesn't need G to find book sites on the Web, that's eight potentially useful pages out of 30, that are never seen by the searcher. Or, looking at it another way, eight free ad listings to bookseller megasites. ;-)
