steveb, I believe the 64.x.x.x data center has the change, but I'm not positive. We use different terminology inside Google. :)

Powdork, I'm not sure if you'd call it an update exactly (different algorithms play more of a role than different data). But I'm guessing the change will probably roll out over the course of the weekend.

PR has not updated. You'll know when it does when someone posts a datacenter IP where it has. Last PR update was Austin.

Google Guy said 64 will move over this weekend, so it still has planty of time, but could already have started in some places.

>>>I think there are still some domain-level niche emphasis tweaks to be made, and some issues involving worthless anchor text<<<

"Steve, what do you mean by this? Google bombing or just the importance of anchor text."

The first part I meant that hopefully everythingwidget.com will be seen as a more authoritative source on widgets than cnn.com -- or minimally viewed as an equal. CNN deserves its authority overall, but everythingwidget.com has earned its authority on widget information. I think this improvement is occuring but isn't done yet. The second part is just a comment that some sites still do well merely on enormous piles of anchor text (plus some PR buying). This is hugely less of a problem now than previously, but still, a domain with four pages of poor "content" that gets links from its own 25,000 junk link pages should not be in the top 1000, let alone the top 20.

Anyway, I think Google is working on addressing these two things and hopefully we will see even more improvement the next couple updates.

"I don't know what google did"

I doubt you did anything, I was back yesterday for 9 of my kw's for about 5 hours. Now I'm lost again in the 4 digits.

hm. For me 64.* is a shift from #2 to #5 on my 'money phrase'.

I guess I can't complain.

#2 was really nice though. ;)

One other neat thing I noticed is now indexing https order pages for some items, which is fine with me...

I think we've been able to crawl/rank https pages for a while now. BTW, I'm going to turn off my stickymail, but I'll still be checking spam reports and email to webmaster [at] google.com with brandyupdate as a keyword. When I get a sticky, I try to reply to each one, so that adds up after a while. :)

Hi Google Guy,
you had responded to me earlier that the new results would switch over this weekend from the 64..****x.

Is that still your position.

Thanks!

Search results have been showing
1) www.domain.com
2) [domain.com...]

for awhile. Not indented, but showing as two different results.

It seems like https should be grouped under the main domain like any other URL, otherwise a domain could claim four spots in the serps instead of two.

216.x has beaten 64.x to the finish line.

GG does his best to keep the peace and be informative. He is just guessing about the outcome though. I have a strong hunch that 216 is the one.

Ahh it's dancing!
Check www, www2, www3 now.

You'll see the 64.x datacenter results occassionally. It's looking good...

I kind of have that gut feeling myself. I don't think it's quite the crowdpleaser that 64. is but man, it's WAY less spammy in my area.

GG would certainly know better than I though.

Nah just manually checking..
www.google.com, www2, and www3.

Right now I see 64 as www.google.com, and 216 as www2 and www3. About 15 minutes ago, 216 was www.google.com.

I think with the recent hate speach about google, he would just say nothing. of course there are never any guarantees---Google could change their mind, but i am sure he was like 99 percent sure to say something like that. I totally disagree that 216 has settled

in fact, if you look through the different
216.**** servers, they are not even serving up identical results--nothing has settled, i can agree there
