>That's a good news for filtering out bought links, so I can save some money for that.

For Google to do so would mean they'd have to know the site is selling links. Which wouldn't be easy unless they advertised they did so.

I see the new backlinks on www-gv, but no change in SERPS. Is this a case of the links catching up with the new SERPS, or is this the heads-up for the imminent arrival of newer SERPS?!?

for some reason, adding an entry in the HOSTS file doesn't work for me either. It's a killer to wait so long after the backlink update :)

Bought backlinks are not counted from specific sites....but currently I can't see any changes in the serps! Google is still switching between different datacenters with no new changes! :(

google.com is switching between -va -in and others since 4 weeks! www-in has not changed since 4 weeks! Really nothing special here....! And my sites show new backlinks but pagerank is not recalculated and my sites are not deepcrawled!

Hello everyone, I know how to check the gv-datacenter for backlinks but how do you check your pagerank on an individual data center? Thanks!

To see your new PageRank, add the following line to your "hosts" file (no extension) for www-gv:

216.239.59.100 toolbarqueries.google.com

Depending on your M$ system, the hosts file will be in:

c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

OR

c:\winnt\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

plasma, I've seen the new links added in, however, I've yet to see any significant movement in the SERPS / the SERPS appear to be flat-lined for the last 2-3 days.

I have a laptop and a PC, when I do a backlink check they are both showing updated backlinks yet one is not showing the updated PR?

Anybody seen something similar?

My directory pages all have PR5/6 after the update yet the laptop is still showing 4/5!

jsnow: the toolbar queries on your two computers are probably pointing towards different datacenters. Check your hosts files.

I have seen pagerank and backlinks updated on www-gv but I have not seen this influence the SERP's.

Has anyone seen any evidence of the new pagerank and backlinks influencing the SERP's?

Thanks for the tip! I have had some minor fluctuations in SERPS although nothing that doesn't happen inbetween updates!

Hmmm, has anyone noticed a decrease in backlinks of their inner pages.
Our inner pages are pr4 but are now not showing on our backlinks!
This is definitely not over yet.

Bek.

The new PR and backlinks that were showing on gv a week ago are now on all the datacenters except -ex. I haven't seen any differences, so it looks like they just took -gv offline and moved the backlink and PR data to the other datacenters. Still no PR for pages from at least December 5th onward.

from at least December 5th onward

Agree with that statement - I put new site live about 15th december and although extensively trawled every other day no PR for even the homepage.

the big question is, will PR ever influence SERPS in the same way as before? If not - then take off the next Toolbar IMHO.

Agree with that statement - I put new site live about 15th december and although extensively trawled every other day no PR for even the homepage.

I also agree: I have fresh sites which were crawled, had back links recognized, but still show PR0 (when something like a PR4/5 was expected).

However, I can say that the PR is already incorporated in the SERPs (I saw the above mentioned sites gradually moving up).

My web page has just increased its PR, from 5 to 6.

My backlinks have also increased, and pr for my inner pages have jumped from 0 to 3-4 depending on the page. Not to bad. Keep up the good work Google.

I just noticed PR4 for a new page I put up about 3-4 weeks and PR2 for 60 dynamic pages it links to - where before they had no PR

Hooray...

Happy New Year to all!

Looks like the PR update we noticed is reverting back. The dozen sites I monitor are now showing the old PR before the hike in PR over last couple of days, though the backlink details are still updated.

PR is still updated. You were probably getting the data from the -ex datacenter which at this point still has the old PR. Change your host file to any of the others and it should be updated.

steveb
The first day when I reported this, I checked all Data Centers and all were showing old PR and backlinks.

Now -ab is atleast showing the updated PR and Backlinks.

As far as I can see, the PR and backlink update has not yet propagated through to any modification in the SERPs, so traffic remains unaffected. Have other people observed the same thing?
