DJFlite I would ask a good SEO to have a look at your site.If you care to be in Google's serps there is nothing worse than spending alot of time on your site if its all in vain because of some penalty.

I cant really see why I would have gotten penalized. I dont see how I could have over optomised, I know too little about SEO to do that. Its funny, I saw my site disappear right as google really started to crawl my site. It was also about the same time I implimented google adsense. My sites simply a helpful site for those wanting to buy DJ Equipment. The words "DJ Equipment" comes up alot but thats only bacuase thats all my site is really about. Oh well back to the DJbooth ;)

If you would like to know my url its the last word in the paragraph above + .net

;)

We're right off the topic of the thread, but what the hec...

DJFlite, yep, you're not indexed by Google, with or without a www, but a search of your URL with All The Web shows 5 backlinks, with almost all of them on "links" pages. That might be your problem, (might not too, of course).

Google seems to have down-weighted links pages, ones that have the word in the URL or Title etc. You need new/more backlinks, especially ones from higher ranking PR pages, (and preferably without the word "link/s" in them).

DJFlite,

I had a very similar situation with a site of mine, it had been up about 9 or 10 months. No PR, the site was indexed and had about 40 pages in the index. We got a little traffic from google but not much. I finally became conviced that the domain had a penalty. I emailed google about it but not trusting them to actually do anything about it I registered a new domain name. I then changed the robots.txt on the old domain to disallow all spiders and copied the site to the new domain. This was about 10/17/2003. With in a week I was in google with about 100 pages indexed and a few weeks later I was finally showing PR. Now a little over two months later I have PR4 - PR0 depending on the page and over 500 pages in the index. I am pretty much dominating some 2 and 3 word phrases in my industry and actually starting to make a little money. Recently google must have removed the penalty from my old domain though because the index page for it now shows a PR4. In my case I am fairly sure that the issue was an expired domain penalty, I know that it had been registered before but have never been able to find any evidence that anyone actually launched a site under the domain. If I were you I would seriously investigate the possibility of some sort of penalty. Just for clarification I made no changes to the site when I moved it to the new domain and the old site has a PR4 now with less links than it had when it was PR0. Hope this helps you and best of luck.

Yea, I've just lost 1000 backlinks on -gv went from 1900 to 900. I hope it is just temporary

Well that backlink and PR updat was fairly lame, with pages from November 20th or so not showing new pagerank. Also, the Google Directory data was still so screwed up, with many crawled caches still showing the March data.

So... given that the -in datacenter is no longer an oddball, plus this, maybe soon we will see a more comprehensive and up to date update.

Yes i think its temporary as the results have been erratic for a while now, we have gone from page 1 to page 2 and back and back again without doing nothing.
Theres definitely something in the google water. Lol!

What a bummer!

New backlinks had given me big jumps in PR on index and deeper pages on -gv. They had been fluctuating in and out and I was waiting for them to firm up. But now they have gone completely.

If anybody says have patience I'll end it all. :(

I have also seen the backlinks go down in the last day or two for the -gv site. However, how do I measure the PR on a datacenter for my site? Do I need to wait for the update to see my new PR?

I'm showing -gv down for at least several hours. I'm also seeing a 'new' backlink update on -ab & most others. No freshtags since the 28th that I've noticed and no Googlebot visits at all on the 30th...hmm...

My backlinks tripled and the PR on several pages has gone up a notch on www.google.com overnight.

Anyone notice any SERPS changes? I got a higher PR yesterday, but I am still at the same place for my main keywords. Also, my back links have gone up big time!

"Anyone notice any SERPS changes?"

One my most popular pages went from PR5 to PR6 and dropped into oblivion in the SERPS.

Chalk up a couple more for page rank updates but don't see any backlinks being updated.

As for serps I was watching www3 and it was mirroring www-in but not anymore.

As of now, backlinks updated (Yahoo 774k) on va, dc, ab, cw, in, fi, kr, lm

Not updated -ex

-gv offline

Pagerank updated at least on -va and I assume others except -ex.

Don't see any directory changes.

You must have bought links from the wrong site.
Google may have assesed a "No Pass PR" penalty to the sites you bought links from. Check to see who else they sell links to and check to see if those sites have their backlinks.

That's a good news for filtering out bought links, so I can save some money for that.

How long does the PR update usually take anyway? Index has a new PR, but none of the sub pages are showing any movement at all. I'm assuming it's quite awhile with the size of the index?
