Is Galen in full force?

Sure I'm seeing a rollback/update

I'm definitely I'm seeing a major rollback/update across several terms I monitor.

SERPS for these terms

a) have the two word phrase highlighted all throughout the titles and snippets
b) are the same whether or not -fdsafdsa is used (or very, very close)

It seems to be a major softening of the filter. Some KWs I'm looking at still have some results missing, but not nearly as many.

The rollback seems to be gradual. city1 KW1 may not be affected, but city2 KW1 is.

>>>but I doubt things will change.

You got that right. How can we talk about specifics when it may involve members of WebmasterWorld. I know I would freak if there a long in-depth discussion about the keywords I am chasing.

Ummm...the title of the thread is "Is Galen in full force?"

Now does anyone wanna get back on topic or do the poor, overworked mods need to lock this thread too? ;)

Who comes up with these names, Florida, Galem. Do you have a seven year list of Google update names Brett, like NOAA for hurricanes.

I for one would have called Florida, Frankenstein instead, and if Galem does not pan out, we can call it Gonorrhea, as it will leave festering sores on SEO's bottom line for years to come. :)

I don't think gonorrhea is in full force, but I am getting itchy.

OK - I'll chime in again. To answer my own question: No, Galen is not in full force, but It's poking it's head out and having a look around.

With the last two fresh tag updates I've seen more SERPs return to the kind we were accustomed to seeing before Florida. They seem to be turning the filter dial from 11 down to about 3, on a KW by KW basis.

Maybe it's more obvious in the areas I've been keeping an eye on for comparison purposes.

If you run a few searches using the name of a city plus a product or service you should see what I'm talking about soon enough. Compare different cities for the same product. Some have rolled back, some haven't.

Oodlum, I keep hoping you are right but I just haven't found any changes whatsoever on any of the databases I've monitored, which ones are you using?

I am keeping close tabs on a 4 word keyphrase with both city and country which has been knocked from number 2 to oblivion and still haven't found any movement.

Sorry, but this type of post is annoying. There has been no change. Please people post only when there is a real update. My heart can't much more of this :(

claus from another thread

I've seen a move away from the broad match, toward the exact match (pre-Florida style) as well the last couple of days.

oodlum,
This is said with kindness and respect:

This is one of the most vainest threads I've read in a long time.

Ok, you want the bragging rights to naming the next update but this is NOT an update, and Galen is nothing more than a pretentious name for a non-event.

You are going to receive a different result depending on which data center your computer hits. This has been going on for months now, get over it. You are simply hitting a different DC.

oodlum, there is no Galen. Hang it up. It's annoying. I'm not the first person who has said it's annoying so please get the message already.

Thanks.

I didn't name it, and am not asking for naming rights.

I said above: To answer my own question: No, Galen is not in full force

If I could change the title of this thread I would. I'm just looking for answers.

I agree TheDave. I'm gonna lock it up and let the Google mods know. I don't think there's much chance they'll want this chat session to continue though... ;)
