Pages still in with PR but no Description or Title!

4000+ pages all retaining their PR but no Desc nor Title

I dont know whats happened, but sometime around the 21st of Oct. the titles and descriptions for 4000+ (all) of my pages just disappeared along with of course my positions! The PR for the time being is holding strong but what the hell could be going on here. Spiders havent been by for more than 2 weeks now.

Yes very very sad. 6000+ pages gone finished, thats all folks. No spiders in sight we are out of here. Just put 5 staff on wavers today :( happy days happy days. Its truly a shame no one can comment on this issue because i think it is a real indication of the google situation.

I dont know what to do i have sent google 10 - 15 emails and submitted a number of reports to Google Guy. I guess me and you (Wanna_learn) are expendable.

Glad I'm not alone...

My site suffers from "slow-death" symptoms as well. Newly added pages are found, however without title and description. Old pages lose their title and decription. First I thought this had something to do with my pages using database content, which might not be always within cache, thus delivering not the entire content neccessary for full-indexing. Then I saw I used a "revisit after 14 days" metatag, which might worsen problem since Google would be told to revisit cache content that might not actually be available. So I banned this tag from my pages.

However, having read all your posts, I figure this is indeed a Google problem and that all we can do is sweat out the run...

yeah you are certainly not alone to see this slow death! Loads of people too wondering, what exactly happened?

several of them got out of by shifting from GoDaddy Servers, but I still feel the problem is smth. else.

Hope somebody say a Word of wisdom on this topic.

I have this other, old homepage which hasn't been changed for a year now. This old site (circa 30 pages) remains Rock-Steady with no title or description loss at all...
Seems that slow-death attacks recently changed pages (only).

well the site finally after completely dying from the index and lost its PR as well :)

BUT news flaash maybe all my whining and complaining has forced some action.

Friday i moved my site over to a new machine and put it on a new IP and WHALA 815 pages are back in the index.

AND my PR is back! :)

HOWEVER

The pages are over 14 months old, in fact 70% dont even longer exist :( :( :( :( :( and the Googlebot is still no where to be found :(

The index page is gone although its PR is still back strong. WHAT ARE YOU DOING GOOGLE! playing with my mind!

Speaking for myself, I made a post in the foo section about this problem of losing descriptions, "$50 reward for information leading to the whereabouts of missing website", not slow death yet but it's related.
Anyway i posted in the foo section because i did'nt feel like it qualified as "google news". There are alot of changes going on at google right now, and a lot of things seem to be screwy.
I don't see the need to start posting my concerns every time something happens.
Patience can be a VERY valuable quality for a webmaster, and will often keep you from doing "rash" things.

I'm not saying there is anything wrong with posting concerns, it often needs to be done. I am only answering the question, and giving the reasons i did not post here... untill now ;)

I noticed the problem a couple of months back, like everyone affected here, the only thing shown on the SERPs is the url of the page.

The site is in 2 flavours 800x600 and 1024x768 and users are redirected accordingly.

Of course there is dup. content - all meta tag fields and <noframes> tags contained in the frames pages are the same for each individual set of pages.

After reading this thread looks like google is clamping down hard on dup pages, no question about it, althought this problem has only occured to a 1/4 of the pages on the site.

Further in that case most obvious was Grey Bar or PR 0, but site still shows PR4 and all backlinks.

it simply is avoided for beig indexed!

The Google index contains two types of pages--fully indexed and partially indexed pages. Your page is currently partially indexed, which means that although we know about your site, our robots have not read all the content on your page(s) in past crawls. This does not adversely affect your PageRank or your inclusion in our index. It does mean that we don't 'know' what to call your page, so it gets listed with the URL as the title and no description.

We appreciate the frustration this causes webmasters who work hard to make their sites accessible to users. We are working to increase the number of fully indexed pages in our search results to alleviate this problem.

It's nice to know we are not alone and that Google are thinking about us;)

By the sounds of it, it's got nothing to do with dupes pages or penalties.

It's actually google not knowing how to catagorise the page that was only partially indexed.

So in other words a full index will categorise the site we hope?

Partial indexed means... just that Google knows you exist but we are unable to cache them.

still hovering there with 811 pages in the index no spiders at all (thats over 2 months now.) and the pages are still none existant although i've added redirect to all of them now to take you or the spiders to the proper pages. Although it doesnt matter as those pages arent showing up in the SERPs anyway. SPIDERS WHERE ARE YOU......

I've changed hosts, IPs, servers everything its a nightmare.

This site is 95% content and used to place in the top 5 for hundreds of information content driven key words :( all gone gone.

I can't understand it, the most authoritive and unique site on the web for one of the top industries on the web. And nothing from my google support cries.

and as far as Google Guy's comments go regarding links. The site has over 85,000 inbound links from every directory out there, for many media sources, from 10s of PR 8s, from thousands of websites. Nothing of spiders since mid Oct. so im very confused at his statement.

And the weird thing is that a huge % of the old urls that are back in of the 811 are in a secure area https:// they are just static htm pages why on earth would Google put this in with a secure url.

I believe it is redirect related, during this time i had many many redirects set up. But all "Google Standard", Still this is no reason to kick out 6000+ pages.

here's something freaky and new on -va. I'm now showing 14 pages. It appears like the spider is hickuping though

Last week I wrote a little note to Google, friendly asking them if there could be something going on. That may or may not have helped, but most of my pages are suddenly back with FULL title and description... (gasping for air).

Now just hoping this will last...

Hi People!
This is my first post, after reading this thread I felt we shared something in common.. both of mi sites have dissapeared from Google too (since november)
Now they only display the URL and no description, in fact, some days they show up and some they don't.(I've already emailed Google about this.)
Any suggestion that might help?

From 78 references sections of the site, now down to just 17 been indexed in google...and of those 11 show just the url of the sections/pages in the title and nothing else.
